Whats the right romanization for ベリシュビッッ?
Hello,
I just stumbled upon the fact that the romanization I used for ベリシュビッッ is Berishubi while most of the rest of world uses Verishuvi. Since I have no clue how romanization works I have to rely on others.
In [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and in Wikipedia it's Verishuvi, my initial source and a few others call it Berishubi and the web service [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] make berishubitsutsu out of it.

I'm very assburger when it comes to accurate naming. Any help is appreciated!
If there is more than one possible answer I will probably change everything to Verishuvi.

Oh no! Not only that, Kawaii girl Japan romanises it to VERISHUVI. Why are they using only capital letters? They don't do that for Sakura Hyakunin issyu. It drives me crazy.

Re: Whats the right romanization for ベリシュビッッ?
I think, because verishuvi is from foreign word.
its common to use capital letters on foreign word.

So that's why they write WONDERFUL JOURNEY, FLY AWAY or BABYMETAL in cabital letters also.
Thanks Ekky

Re: Whats the right romanization for ベリシュビッッ?
CAP letter is just japanese sense, isn't it?
they usually use star(☆) in word but actually don't 'read'
maybe for differentiation i think

Re: Whats the right romanization for ベリシュビッッ?
ベ (Be) リ (Ri) シュ (Shu) ビ (Bi) ッッ <-- it's just to make a letter in front pronounced longly, just like strip (-) when use Katakana...
So, it's Berishubii (but you read it Verishuvii, well sometime they use Ba, Bi, Bu, Be, Bo for Va, Vi, Vu, Ve, Vo)
although they can use U with tenten + little A (I mean like Tsu above) like this, ヴァ, etc...
and I think capital just to make different from romaji that from Hiragana...
sorry for my bad English... :)

nope, (ッ) its not for long vowel.
like I said before, the actual spelling is (BERISHUBItsu')
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
why not just write it in katakana @@
Re: Whats the right romanization for ベリシュビッッ?
I know. But I'm not interested in the spelling. I want to know the one and only true romanization.Ekky wrote:like I said before, the actual spelling is (BERISHUBItsu')
But I have since learned that there is no such thing as a one and only true transformation.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
So I will rest my struggle and stick to what generasia.com and Wikipedia say.
...on the other hand... I could save all possible romanizations
That is how I name files since forever.Ekky wrote:why not just write it in katakana @@
And I couldn't read it otherwise.

Re: Whats the right romanization for ベリシュビッッ?
we pronounce it "Beri shubitsu"
in english/western translate it to Verishuvi "tsu"(silent)
its a mixed japanese english word, an evolution of japlish language/accent
Japlish mostly created by modern tokyo socialites
if you listen carefully on the song lyrics, japlish
"Very Shubi shitemasu"
I'm very Happy right now
"Hibiki au waku waku"
My excitement is starting to echo
"Pi~nch Aseru kimochi"
I'm in a pinch and I start panicking
Don't worry local japanese will understand your Vi/Bi

I learned a bit more about Japanese just by reading this thread. It gets more bewildering to me every day. I will never even attempt to understand it.

Re: Whats the right romanization for ベリシュビッッ?
Thank you for your explanations.
I'm glad you sad that. Because as is stated earlier in this thread, I changed everything to VERISHUVI. File names and MP3-Tags. And than I wasn't sure any more if that was the right thing.
It's not the romanization the majority uses, but it isn't false neither.

hehe yeah true, "Berishubitsu" that's how we pronounce it and its not wrong if you put "VERISHUVI" coz thats the right western romanization/spelling, and we write it "ベリシュビッッ" in japanese katakana script coz its modern Japanese/foreign language
I'll give you an example word in english so you get why it was changed to VERISHUVI to make it clear.. sample word " though " from english to german
"tho/doh" < english pronounciation
though < english writing/spelling
although < proper english spelling/writing
obwohl < german translation/writing
ovol < german pronounciation
Shikashi/しかし < japanese translation romanji/hiragana writing
Demo < modern japanese
if u see the sample, we do different pronounciation and spelling in modern japanese words
sorry if "Out Of Topic"
